These are a classic no-bake chocolate oat cookie from our childhood.
These cookies Grandma Rempel (Ann’s Mom) used to make all the time! These were such a treat for me and Teresa. So easy to make and so nostalgic.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup milk
- 4 tbsp cocoa
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 tsp vanilla
Method
Put the sugar, butter, and milk in a saucepan and bring to a full rolling boil. Boil for 1½ minutes. Too short and the cookies stay wet; too long and they crumble.
Take the pan off the heat and stir in the cocoa, coconut, oats, and vanilla.
Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper and let cool until set.
Variations
Cereal
Use part rolled oats and part Cheerios or puffed wheat.
